Legend of Phra Uppha Khut/Phra Opakut

Phra OPaKut is a very famous Phra A-Ra-Hunt in Indian. The record showed that Phra OPaKut appear after Lord Buddha pass away 200 year. Phra OPaKut is highly respected in Indian, Burma, Thai, Cambodian and Laos. He has been deep knowledge of Visha and expert of concentration of mindfulness in Buddhism way.

Phra Opakut was born on a rich family in magula village. There are three kids in his family. He is the youngest. He would become a monk because his father has made a promise that if he has a son he will let him become a monk, but his two brothers were not willing to be a monk so the responsibility was committed to him.

At the first he didn’t accept father’s request. He just wanted to be a normal businessman. One day, Phra Opakut took care of the store, it’s unusual lots of customer at that day. It’s all because of Phra Opakut’s luck. And at the same day the master who promised with his father came to visit him. He told some Buddha stories to Phra Opakut and he heard with ecstasy. Master thought Phra Opakut has destiny with Buddha. So he mentioned the promise. And at that day, he decided to become a monk.

He made an effort to study Buddha scripture  after he ordained as a monk. He even became a teacher who teach Buddha scripture. He had 18000 disciples, is a teacher who had largest disciples. Then he practiced to have the ability that move arbitrarily everywhere he can go anywhere he wanted to. So he is the first Buddha apprentice who has magic Buddhist power. Except the ability of moving he can also make animal stop acting or sitting on the water.

Thai people believed that Phra OPaKut was the topmost a monk worships. It was believed that Phra OPaKut can help the owner from danger, evil forces, negative energy and all obstacles. Also this great Buddha is especially powerful for business success, wealth and peaceful life.

Phra Uppha Khut is a one of Buddhist saint who is a great of protection and luck. Phra Uppha Khut is a disciple of Phra Maha Katsapa.

KuBa Chao DuangDee was born in 26 April B.E.2449 (C.E.1906) at Chiangmai province. KuBa Chao DuangDee has eight sisters and brothers. When KuBa Chao DuangDee was 11 years old, he followed his parents to offer the foods to KuBa Sriwichai who was a great monk of north in Thailand. KuBa Sriwichai told his parents “in the future your son will to be a good monk”. After that, KuBa Chao DuangDee was 13 years old. He ordained as Buddhist novice then he came to Chiangmai for serving KuBa Sriwichai. In B.E.2470 (C.E.1927), KuBa Chao DuangDee ordained as a monk. KuBa Sriwichai died when KuBa Chao DuangDee was 32 years old. 

After cremated KuBa Sriwichai, KuBa Chao Apichai who was a disciple of KuBa Sriwichai gave a piece of bone at skull to KuBa Chao DuangDee. KuBa Chao DuangDee is 104 years old who is oldest monk in Chiangmai province and last one disciple of KuBa Sriwichai. KuBa Chao DuangDee is a great monk, he has donated lot of money to build public utilities such as hospital, school and the other. Finally, KuBa Chao DuangDee said to every worshipper “hoping every worshipper to be rich and happy”.

There are two grand ceremonies of these amulets such as:

1. First grand ceremony KuBa Subin and LP Amnard who are the disciples of KB Chao DuangDee created the charming lip wax in auspicious time 2 November C.E.2009 and there are many top monks in Chiangmai province joined to bless the amulets of KB Chao DuangDee at Wat Tha ChamPee.

2. Second grand ceremony held in auspicious time and place on 2 December C.E.2009. There are 12 top monk around north of Thailand joined to bless these amulets such as

12. LP Amnard from Wat Khao Sam Lan

Thai people believe whoever worship Phra Uppha Khut will get great luck and wealth. On the other hand, Phra Uppha Khut can protect a worshipper from dangers and bad things. In addition, Thai people believe if you are merchant should worship Phra Uppha Khut every morning that will bring good business to a worshipper.
